Local Shopping & Recreation
Ready to explore? Grand Haven is packed with great shops, local gems, and outdoor spots perfect for a weekend adventure.
Shopping
Just under half a mile from your new home sits the South Village Plaza. Home to D&W Fresh Market and other everyday essentials, it’ll be your go-to for groceries. For even more options, Walmart Supercenter, Meijer, and ALDI are located within two miles. These are all accessible by Grand Haven’s on-demand Harbor Transit System!
Arts & Activities
Living at The Village Green means easy access to Grand Haven’s vibrant arts scene. You’ll find plenty of cultural inspiration, from open-air art fairs along Downtown’s Washington Avenue to live music by the waterfront during summer’s “Music on the Grand” concerts. Creativity thrives with hands-on workshops and classes, whether you’re trying jewelry-making at Studio JSD or planning a paint party with Dreese Fine Art.
Don’t forget to look into classes at Grand Haven’s Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging! Proudly offering lifelong learning classes and wellness programs, they prove it’s never too late to take up a new hobby! From yoga, to quilting to building radio airplanes, there is plenty to spark your curiosity.
Outdoor Recreation
If you love the outdoors, Grand Haven delivers all year long. Nestled where the Grand River meets Lake Michigan, this town is packed with parks, trails, and scenic spots. Stroll the public boardwalk that winds two and a half miles from the Lake Michigan pier to downtown shopping, or hit the bike paths and cross-country ski trails that crisscross the area’s state, county, and city parks.
Craving beach time? You’re in luck – Grand Haven’s sandy Lake Michigan shoreline is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or just relaxing (bonus: no salt, no sharks). And if golf is your game, you’ll want to check out the Jack Nicklaus-designed American Dunes Golf Club. It’s both a golf course and a proud tribute to Folds of Honor, founded right here in Grand Haven.
Festivals & Events
Living at The Village Green means you’re just minutes away from some of Grand Haven’s most beloved celebrations. Proudly known as Coast Guard City, U.S.A., the town hosts the annual Coast Guard Festival. This weeklong summer tradition honors the U.S. Coast Guard service members with ship tours, parades, live music, and one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Michigan. The fun doesn’t stop when the weather cools off.
